Hi all,
Total for me YTD is £1195.37... doesn't look like I'm going to make 2k before 2009, although if I include the OPs I'd made before joining this challenge in July, it's actually £1815.37
By my calculations  I think I should end the year with a balance of just under £120k even with no more OPs in Nov/Dec...which is where I wanted to get to really... although I'll still OP a bit more this year if I can.
2009? Bring it on!
Hope everybody else has a good OPful last couple of months! :beer:0 -
Hi everyone
Just popped in to update my signature and say that I just made the OP deadline this month by the skin of my teeth! I couldn't get to the bank by the end of the month so I made a payment online and it didn't show up till this morning! I was having kittens thinking I had missed the deadline (the Nationwide allows over payments of up to £500 per month and if you go over you are penalised). If I had missed the date it would have meant an extra month on my mortgage. Strangely if I pay by cheque the mortgage gets credited on the day I pay and the cheque takes a couple of days to clear my current account. Doing an online transfer means the money goes out of the current account straightaway and is not credited to the mortgage for up to 2 working days. So you lose out on interest in the current account and pay up to 2 days extra interest on the £500 which has not yet been credited to the mortgage. I will make sure I get the time to go to the bank with the cheque next month.
good luck everyone with the next month's target.

Well thoughts are turning to next years thread already so I thought it was time to fill you in on the details. I am going to step down at the end of this year due to the arrival of baby. However the wonderful Zavarony has offered to host the 2009 thread for us. At some point soon Zav will give you details about exactly what is happening and how to join up but I am guessing the format will be very similar to this year!
I am planning on doing this thread till the end and finishing with a summary of all the grand totals at the start of Jan.
My OH has been primed ready to break the news to you all when bump turns up by the way - it should be sometime this month:j

I don't get on here very much so just wanted to say THANK YOU bellsbells, even though I've not had an opportunity to OP at all, it helps me stay focused on what I want to do as soon as I can.
Good luck with the bumps arrival. Bless.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Hi All,
Well never say never £53 came through on Quidco yesterday so I have paid off £53 this morning, perhaps the odd bit will get paid off over thenext few months!0 -
Thank you so much bellsbells. Without this thread me and mr pollys wouldnot have overpaid our mortgage. The total we owe now looks so much better than it did back in May.
Looking forward to hearing news of your little ones arrival.

Hello Bellsbells
I'd like to join the MFW challenge too please. Started off with as first time buyers with a mortgage of around £149400 in Nov 2001 on a 7 year fix of 5.69% . Since then we have managed to overpay by about £28,000 and now owe £98,000 (under the £100k mark hurrah!). We move to a new mortgage on 1 Feb (offset, tracking BOE plus 0.74% for term, no fees or ERC). Our objective is to have paid off the mortgage by 1 Feb 2012, so in just over 3 years time. Let me know if you need anymore information from me. How often do you want updates?
