I realise its nearly the end of the year but I'm new so am signing up for this anyway please. Target to over pay as much as possible, probably set a more accurate target from Jan 09. Hope to be MF in 10 years, got 19 to go so just plumped for half. Not sure how hard its going to be
.
Welcome AuntiH - you are added to the list! There will be a new thread starting next year - more news on that to follow in November!

After all the misery at the start of the month, in the end I managed to overpay by more than usual - £599 which was an accident since I can only overpay by £500 a monthbut anyway this makes a total overpayment of £2994
I purposely paid more myself because hopefully dh will make an OP next month which could be quite substantial and I figured no point in paying the fee on the whole lot.
And if we keep overpaying and if interest rates come down we have a chance of paying off in 15 years ... not great but hey it would be 8 years early!
8 years early is massive! that would be a real achievement:j

this forum is great to read and become inspired to pay every extra penny off...i even found 50p on the floor earlier at the cinema...1st thought that came into my head...put it in pot to overpay mortgage!! :rotfl:
tee hee hee - that sounds just like me. I do the same with any money I find. I have a collection of money boxes - one is for 5p pieces (when that is full it will be a total treat just for me - probably chocolate and a DVD) one for coppers (for DS pocket money) and then the overpaymrnt pot as well that mostly holds other silver. It is all a bit addictive! :rotfl:

Sorry for delay in replying Belfastgirl, but didn't come back onto the pc yesterday after I posted. My mortgage is actually with Barclays (Woolwich), but maybe their T&Cs are different from the Nationwide.
Good luck and hopefully you WON'T get any penalties for overpaying too much in one month:eek:When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0 -
Ok ignore any mortgage free plans I may or maynot have had. We are looking to possibly up the mortgage now in a bid to be able to move. DOH!Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25
% of house owned/% of mortgage paid off. July 25 - 38.82%/31.66%

No OP for me this month I'm afraid.
But as of November hoping to increase my monthly payment to op by about £100 a month. Realised there is no way I am going to meet my target for this year - must make next year's target more realistic!
Well done to everyone who's already hit their annual target.0
