Hi All
I've been away spending...............New boiler, masses of building work, wall fell down and wasn't covered by insurance. Annoying and frustrating times, not to mention expensive. But I'm back, back, back with a £300 overpayment this month to get things back in order. Bells many congratulation on the overpaying, I can't believe the bump is nearly due we have been doing this for almost a year, where has the time gone. It is great to see how much people are paying off I find it very motivating, thanks to all.0 -
Congratulation Bells on your reduction in term of the mortgage, lets just hope your pregnancy term doesn't increase and bubs comes on time!:D
PMing you my October update.
Thanks0 -
I am sorry to say that for the next year at least I will not be able to make any more mortgage overpayments, sometimes life throws you a curveball and you have to put your plans on hold:o
I wish you all well in your quest to be mortgage free. xxx
My plans are only on hold though:cool:But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -
Newbie to all this but make first overpayment this month of £1050. I intend to pay the same OP each month until the end which should be about 5 years.
If we can afford it then we will make further OP as and when possible hopefully.
I am so excited and nervous at the same time. Cannot wait to be MF!:j0 -
Just upped our monthly overpayments to £600. It is going to stretch us but it'll be worth it.
Good luck everyone.MFW 1/5/08 £45,789 Cleared mortgage 1/02/13

Well its finally gone through, my last mortgage payment cleared my account yesterday (15th) and I am now mortgage free.
There was a bit of a hiccup, it should have gone through on Monday but Direct Line had given me wrong instructions and I had an extra couple of days biting my nails bfore the payment was taken.
It has not fully sunk in yet and probably wont until next month when there is no payment but I am chuffed to say the least.
This being Scotland however, I need to engage a solicitor to get my deeds released and that will cost me so it looks like my first 'non-mortgage' payment will be towards that.0 -
I want to thank you again for your inspirational thread.
Last year I was just ticking along at a gentle pace making modest overpayments and at around the same time as starting to use Microsoft Money to calculate the effects of my overpayments, your thread popped up on my radar.
I will admit to still being a bit modest with my targets to begin with but after being given a permanent position at work and reading of others successes on the thread, I started to change my outlook and dare I say it I became a little obsessive towards the end when I realised that I might actually achieve my ultimate goal before my birthday.
My original target was £2000 for the whole year so it goes to prove that a little obsession can be a good thing sometimes.
Martin's website has guided me towards cutting costs and various savings along the way but I have to say again that it has been your thread and the great bunch of MFW's that contribute to it that have brought me to this wonderful day.
Thank you again.
