To everyone that has responded to me - thank you so much. I received a without prejudice save as to costs over the weekend via email and then another email
this morning to say that they are discontinuing the claim. Without this forum I wouldn’t have been able to do it. I have to say I found the newbies thread really scary and hard to navigate because there’s so much info on there that you have to make sure you’re choosing the right parts and feels like a guessing game but even so without that guidance I wouldn’t be in this position. I feel lucky and can’t believe that these companies put people through this process - it’s horrific and unethical and for anyone who’s vulnerable it could literally be life threatening. Is there anything I can do/join to start making the government take notice of how appalling this is. It needs to be regulated. It’s an abuse of power that’s being given to them freely and it’s dangerous. I can’t stand the thought of other people having to go through this. 

I still have another 2 of these through DCB legal to get through but I feel more confident now that it’s ok to stand my ground. Thank you again to the people who dedicate their time to helping others. I’m truly grateful as are many!

Can we please see a redacted copy of the N279 Notice of Discontinuance when you receive it please, then I can count it in the DCB Legal Discontinuation thread of shame.  The same with any subsequent ones too.

I'm with you. This could kill vulnerable people. Nobody should ever have their credit rating threatened over a PARKING TICKET! Councils don't have that power so why do rogues?

Stick around on this forum as I'm in the MHCLG Steering Group and we will be among the first to know and publicise the Consultation. We want everyone to reply to the Government (again...we've been here before with the previous Government, hey ho).

The law is already in place (since 2019) to regulate these scammers. Just needs a robust Code of Practice, regulatory framework and sanctions with real clout.

This is the N279 that came through yesterday. This covers 3 parking tickets from 5 years ago and I have another 2 to go (both separate claims this time but through DCB legal). I also have another 4 over the past 2 years but not at this stage and not sure how they will escalate. I will def keep an eye out for any updates and will support anyway that I can! Thanks again all
