Hi I need your advice on a couple of queries please.Thank you in advance.
As background it is linked to : https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6477211/threats-from-late-administrators-family#latest
1. Back in 2004 I wrote to the late administrator via a solicitor letters asking to progress the administration of my late mother's estate to which I had no response. The solicitor charged me around £550 for these. Can I claim this cost? If so who/ what? My mother's estate or the late administrator's estate/share.
2. As the late administrator failed to deal with this matter does negligence apply and how could this be addressed?

As per some of the comments on your other threads, you really need to let some of this go.
Enquiring about negligence is just adding more hassle and expense that you really don’t need. Let alone chasing after a 20-year-old bill. Just distribute the estate and have done with it.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.2 -
I responded to your original post very late i agree and my mind still stands. Pay up equally and be done with it or take awAy a reasonable figure for rent and then have legal costs taking more money when the issue of the brother get the accounts.
Personally your late parent would be turning in their grave if they knew the problems this is causing now. As others have said i believe its time to give up, pay the gifts and move on. Raise a glass to the parent say thanks and know you have done your best and what is right
