Holiday - email saying there is construction next door

Hi all

i booked a holiday to Egypt in January just gone and the holiday is booked for June this year. It was booked directly on the EasyJet website.

today, I received an email from EasyJet saying that there is building work which has commenced next door to my hotel. I didn’t know this at the time of booking and they hadn’t let me know til now.

they said that I could continue with my holiday as planned or I can change my holiday to somewhere else but I have to pay for the fees / differences. I weren’t even offered a refund.

So obviously I’m going to still go as they said that I should be affected that much as the works only taking place between 10am / 5pm (apparently). I’ve however been on holiday before and they’ve said that and it wasn’t the case.

i would like to know if the worst did happen and I went on holiday and the work did impact my time there in a negative way, so I have a leg to stand on in terms of making a complaint ?

Thanks

They probably couldn’t let you know in January when you’re booked because the work wasn’t happening then.
I’d have a look on Tripadvisor if I were you because they sometimes have more up-to-date information about any issues that might be affecting a property.

They presumably said that you shouldn't be affected that much?  If so, and the reality turns out differently then yes, that would be grounds for complaint, although it doesn't necessarily translate into any financial recompense....

I have stayed in many places having construction and it doesn't affect you on an evening.

You can complain if there is disruption outside of the hours stated but this rarely happens.

Maybe look at reviews to see what others are saying?

You guessed it! Ahha. They said I shouldn’t be affected by it and they’ll put me in a room far away- but I’m sure everyone gets that haha! Okay thank you

I guess it’s down to luck isn’t it. I’m praying it doesn’t affect me and go over the hours provided but we’ll see. I’ll look on Tripadvisor . Thanks ;)

If you do experience any issues, make sure you report them to the rep immediately.  Don't wait until you get back.  I've only had warnings about building work once, and then it was actually within the hotel complex where I was staying.  If I hadn't been warned about it I wouldn't even have known it was going on.

They'll be asserting that it's not a significant change (an important distinction under the Package Travel Regulations) and so their position will be that they're being generous by allowing you to change your booking elsewhere rather than stingy by not offering the option of a refund (which they'd need to if it was deemed a significant change, as per clause 14 of their booking terms).

Okay thank you. Just annoying as I wouldn’t have booked here if I knew they were planning on building next door. Oh well it is what it is.

    thanks for your replies guys
