Trojan horse Agent.MIY

Hi,

I have used AVG Free scan every day for years, with no problems, until yesterday.

Trojan1.jpg

They were quarantined, but this was found today.

Trojan2.jpg

I have now deleted them from the quarantine vault, and ran a scan in safe mode which was clean.

Should I be worried about anything, the _restore, for instance?

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Thanks.

Turn system restore off and back on again, to empty your system restore area

    Actually no it's not.

This infection - along with a few others - came out just before Christmas and not all anti malware companies have built it into their detection routines yet.

Glad to hear you are getting rid of it, frugalmacdugal, as I've seen at least one other person stuck with this and not able to remove it.

  • Hi,

well ran a full scan again this morning, and it was clean again, so hopefully it's gone. :j

Strange thing though, couldn't find anything about it on AVG forum.

Same happened to me yesterday and today, AVG detected and 'healed' it, and I deleted it from the virus vault shortly afterwards. Another scan was performed an hour ago, no virus detected this time. Will scan again later, just in case (paranoia or what :o).

  • Hi,

yea I'm the same, first time I've been bothered with anything, I like to keep machine clean, and am careful with my surfing.

Hope you're fixed for good. :j

Should you always empty the virus vault?
Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.

I always do that after reading about it on here (I'm hopeless with techie stuff :o). Can't remember if it's a must or not though.

Hopefully someone else will provide a more helpful answer to your query. :o:o

My advice to people is always to clear out the vault if you are certain the stuff in there is malware. Yes, it's quarantined but I don't like malware hanging round on any machine.
