Get premium bond details for inheritance tax form

I need to complete form IHT406 before I can apply for grant of probate. My late mum likely had bonds, but can only find an old holder number for her and some old bond accounts that she had and sold each year.
The form in their website seems to be in regards to getting the money out. I called, but they say they have no security to do and can't tell me anything (other than a postal address).
I did the form but haven't got any emails or other confirmation in a week. I'm concerned that the conclusion to the form will not be the information. It didn't ask for the holder number and the only account number I could give is for one that is closed. Plus also I had to say I was applying for a grant, which is not clearly true, since the tax form is really the precursor to it
Did anyone do the form in this situation? Did the details come back eventually?
Should I write them a letter requesting the information?
Is there some keyword or thing I should say to get information from ringing up?

My advice to everyone at all times when dealing with probate/executor/admisitration is to NEVER ring anyone and especially never EVER ring a general call centre of a groupI always write to have a proper printed evidence trail and preferably find the specific address of their breavement dept to send it toDear sir, Re Person x of address Y and previous addresses z etc (if applicable). I reget to inform you they died on the X/x/x. I enclose a copy of the death certificate.I am the executor and I believe they had some savings within NS&I of various types. Please will you itemise to me each of their holdings in all of their savings with you along with the valuation at date of death. Please also send any necessary forms for me to complete as executor for me to realise the proceeds. your faithfullyand then I sign it in my name and underneath type "exors of X" to make it clear I am signing and acting as "executor of" and not in my own capacity.Once they have the death cert then they will talk to you - before that you no chance. As executor you do not need to know account numbers etc - you just tell the organisation to find all the accounts and list them to you4

Are you quite sure you need to do an IHT return for your mother’s estate? Her estate would need to be over £325k if she was single, up to double that if she was a widow. If you do need to do a return and you are unsure of the amounts you can submit estimated figures and do a correction if needed later.0

This won't be any re-assurance to you, but when I helped my daughter deal with her late husband's estate, NS&I were by far the worst financial organisation with which we dealt! Numerous letters, chasing phone calls and follow-up were required to obtain relatively straightforward information, primarily about a Child ISA - this took several months. To this date, we still have absolutely no confidence that NS&I carried out a thorough search to make sure that her late husband had no further accounts with them.
Hence I echo the comments above about putting requests in writing, but be prepared to follow up.

NS&I are also the ones that have the lowest value required to need probate. Sorry not very well worded. Some banks will release £50k without probate some £20k, NS&I last time I looked it was £5k.1

It sounds like you are very unsure she had bonds? Just complete the form with no reference to them as you have no knowledge if they exist or not. Once you have probate you can then find out and at the end of the estate administration you can contact HMRC if figures have changed.0

Hi, yes I need to fill out the iht form because we are over the lower threshold and the form is still required even though we will be exempt because the house is going to children. Can't get the grant until then. The NS&I form was already done, not sure if you can just leave things blank. I think I will send them a letter as well. Including a copy of the death certificate is good tip!0
