Autotrader- is it me?

When I bought my electrocar in September, I was able to go to Autotrader and select what I was looking for, price, year  etc. and I got a load of results, which I could then sort by distance from my house (or price etc.)

Now I can't do the sort!

Also the adverts used to have more information than a small picture of the car and the price. (Yes I know there is still a "gallery" of a few tiny pictures and loads of adverts, but not a patch on the huge lists of high resolution photos I saw before)

I could look for vital things like a reversing camera in the "description" .

Worse, the adverts seem to be for virtual cars that I could buy online, sight unseen for delivery.

I want to see lots of pictures and have a proper description of features & extras so I can shortlist which cars to go and see.

Am I doing something wrong, or has autotrader become totally useless?

What website should I use to locate second hand cars instead?

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

I don't know what you mean, maybe your App needs updating?  I've just gone on the desktop site and it is the same as it's always been, you're able to filter by pretty much anything and sort by price/age/distance etc.

It could be that the make and model of the car you are looking for is very rare/new/unique.  So the only results you are getting is where some dealers/companies are advertising cars which aren't really for sale, but want you to contact them and then they'll try to get one from somewhere in the country for £x and sell to you for £x + 20%

The pictures and videos attached to the item are the choice of the seller from what I can see and some have a good variety of pictures of the car and sometimes a video, some have a poor selection including many that are adverts for the gararge.

You can search the spec and features by clicking View Spec and Features then using the search box at the top although depending on the brand they may have different names for it.  On one model it is marked as a reversing camera but another higher spec model it's a 360 view monitor so doesn't show on the search.

The listings for virtual cars that are not at your location at all but listed as being there is incredibly annoying and clearly Autotrader aren't going to change this (I assume they're getting extra money from these companies), you can filter them by keywords putting -cinch and -arval which will exclude them.  I have a base search set up with these two excluded and it makes location based searching usable

    So it is me then.

My PC must be blocking something.  I'll try firing up the laptop and using it without the VPN/internet AV suite.

    I'm getting this

They should be sorted by distance, but are in a random order, possibly sorted by who paid the most for their advert.

The lack of info and pictures is obviously down to the seller, I managed to find a couple that have the requisite info (heat pump & reverse camera).

tbh I'm shocked at how high the prices are, I thought they were pretty much giving EVs away now!

    Why?
EV's are cheap to run. So 2nd hand are making good money now. Especially given the VED

Click on Filter/Search Make sure that under sort that Distance is selected.
Still get some out  sync, but that is retailers paying.

Someone did post a way of getting ride of the likes of Carsa etc a while ago.

I know that, but I'm bombarded with youtube clickbait and other "news" articles claiming that EVs are worthless after 3 years, no-one wants to buy them, they loose 50% of their value every year etc.

This doesn't seem to be reflected in the asking prices though.

I just fancied swapping my oil tanker Citroen on something a little more sensibly sized and slightly better built.
