Traveling to Turkey

Afternoon,
My uncle has rented a villa in Turkey for a few weeks to celebrate his 60th. I want to go over from the UK for a few nights as a surprise. He has asked those going to provide passport number and details for the villa owner - I know this is often a requirement when renting property out to tourists.
Question is: any harm in my details being provided to the villa owner on the day I get there, so as to keep the surprise... Rather than ahead of time?
Thank you!

If it helps, we only provide passport details to the hotel we stay in when we arrive. We book independently so it's not part of a package.
Also, you will have provided passport details to the airline and shown your passport on arrival.0 -
I am guessing the owner wants to know how many are going.
So they want to know that in advance?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

This could be about police registration...
The owner is obliged to give passport information to the police on or before the day of arrival. S/he might prefer to do this in advance, rather than drop whatever else is going on when a new person arrives.

In any event, OP's uncle could let the owners know on the day he arrives.0 -

Hotels know that people can arrive at any time, and so they will have someone to do the registration as needed. A villa owner might prefer to get it out of the way at the time a booking is made, so that he doesn't need to worry about registration every day. Obviously he could do it when an extra guest arrives, but might prefer not to do so.

How will the villa owner know you are even there? Nudge nudge wink wink.1
