Car finance mis-selling claim telephone calls

Regarding the mis-selling of car finance that has been heavily advertised.  I logged a claim over 3 years ago, but, no doubt due to the advertised opportunities, I am being inundated with telephone calls from companies wanting to act on my behalf.  As I type this it is around 3pm on a weekday afternoon and already today I have had 5 calls.  Who has sold this information?,.... where is that fact that I bought a vehicle on finance in 2015 being held?  At no time did I give anyone the permission to sell what I deem to be financial information.  Anyone else suffering the same?

I've never been in a car accident or had car finance, however I still get calls from companies wanting to "help" me.  Unless I'm the one contacting the company, I wouldn't trust that company.  I would treat it as a scam.

There are long lists of people who engage in cold calls, respond well to ambulance chasers, jump on the bandwagon (aka sucker lists) along with more general lists of people, their telephone number and possibly other data points on them.

Like most cold calls they know very little about you when they call but ask speculative open questions which many respond to adding in details...

"I'm calling your from BandWagoners about your car finance and the claim you have"
"You mean the vehicle finance in 2015?"
"Yes, thats the one, but also about any others" (quickly updating their db to say you had vehicle finance in 2015

Next person that calls can add another data point to the call.

They spam numbers and hope people answer, just keep blocking and reporting them

Nobody has sold any data, it's just robo calling

The data on your car finance history is not held anywhere public, they just cast 100 lines and hope a couple of fish bite

Personally - no, but my phone seems to screen and block spam calls so that's nice.

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Its not really misselling.  Its a bit of luck due to an unexpected and still being challenged legal opinion via the courts.

As I type this it is around 3pm on a weekday afternoon and already today I have had 5 calls.  Who has sold this information?
Have you got yourself on a mugs list?   i.e. if you have engaged with a scammer or CMC in the past, then your details get shared.

I am not getting any calls from scammers at the moment but I won't engage CMCs or scammers.
