Cancelling/changing a Ryanair flight......

Hello all.

Very quick question to find out if anyone has any tricks or hacks regarding cancelling/changing Ryanair flights.

I have two flights booked for this week for myself and my daughter (she's under 16).
She had an operation last week and is unable to travel for a month, so I can't use our flights.

I know that Ryanair flights are 'non-refundable'.  I also know that tickets can be changed for £35 per ticket, per route, which wouldn't be cost effective for this trip.

So, does anybody know if there are any tricks or hacks where Ryanair will agree to issue a credit note or change a flight?  I can get written confirmation from the surgeon to state that my daughter cannot fly.

We don't have travel insurance as we live in Europe and most things are covered on our house or car insurance for travel within Europe - I just wanted to find out if Ryanair will allow any changes in certain circumstances  before making a claim on our house/car insurance.
Thanks

You've more or less answered your own question

You can't cancel Ryanair flights (generally speaking)
You can change them but have to pay the change fee

Ryanair won't care about the reason you can't take the flight - that's what your insurance is for.

You can ask Ryanair of course, but they are pretty inflexible in such situations.

Thanks - yes, I know how inflexible they are - it's just taken me 11 months battling with them for a refund they were obliged to pay me!  I got there in the end.
Just wondered if there were any ways of getting around the fees in this instance.
Oh well, will go to our home/car insurance to claim.

I’m intrigued by either a house or a car insurance that will cover the cancellation of non refundable tickets if you can’t use them, is this a non UK thing?

Well medical costs might be covered (as in treatment might be free) but that has no bearing on cancellation costs. For that you would need travel insurance.
This would have nothing to do with a typical house or car policy as well, so that's likely futile.

Ryanair site shows £45 per person per flight plus any difference in fare (if flights are more expensive)

Their flights are non-refundable and their terms state they will only refund for death of immediate family member or passenger

I would think your only chance of a full refund is if Ryanair cancel the flight or reschedule/delay by more than five hours.
