Are Acer desktop pcs any good?

Acer products are great, good value for money and they do what they say on the tin. But if you're unlucky enough to have your laptop/desktop break, don't expect any help from Acer. My laptops was less than 8 months old when it developed a fault. Acer told me it wasn't covered under the warranty.
There exact words were (taken from an email I received from Acer themselves):Cosmetic damage isn't covered under the warranty as it does not stop the unit working correctly. Damage to the unit during use is also not covered by the warranty as it's considered general wear and tear. And any damage that does stop the unit from working, is often classed as accidental damage, and again not covered by the warranty.
So as you can see, the warranty doesn't cover much, if it breaks, you'll basically have to pay for repairs yourself. That said, I know plenty of people with acer products that have had no problem at all, I guess you pay your money and take your chance, as with most models.Sigless0 -
Why take any chances, pay by credit card, then if it develops a fault return it to the retailer you bought it from and let them take the chances with acer, if it's not returned in a reasonable time repaired claim off your credit card company.0

we've had no problems with our acer desktop. I specifically go for their machines over other makes such as hp as i have had such issues in the past trying to upgrade as they have demanded branded components!
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

No problems here either. I had an Acer laptop which gave 3 years faultless service and I now have an Acer desktop which is fast and quiet and has given no problems (a year old now).My eyes! The goggles do nothing!0
