I love salads, tonight we had steak topped with prawns, salad and a few chips. Heaven. Sorry Squeaky I can't usually face anything until later when it cools off in the summer. I tend to only have one meal a day most summer months, but will be trying to make sure I have breakfast this year. One day I might be more organised...........

Hi I don't know about everyone else but I am struggling to feed my two on these hot, muggy days as their apetites seem to have diminished .
I have tried some lighter meals but need some inspiration!
I have tried the following:
pizza (cold)
Wraps with cheese and sweetcorn
pasta with tom sauce
Ds can not eat nuts/eggs so things like quiche are not an option.
Kids are also quite fussy with salad type stuff:rolleyes:
Thanks in advance Jammy x0 -

Hi Jammygal - great thread idea. Same problem with my three little ones and although no probs with egss etc, salad is a bit of a no-no. Be interested in the posts you get, a couple if ideas:

I am trying to be OS and use up the contents of fridge/freezer/cupboard without going shopping again this week. The only problem is DH has just announced that he does not want cooked meals as it is going to be too hot this week!
Here is the staples of above said fridge etc!
Mince 400g x 2
Pack of Sausages
Sausage meat
Pastry
Tins of Tuna x 3
Rice
Pasta
Onions
cucumber
Few tomatoes
Burgers
Large chicken breast
along with the normal bread, milk, cheese etc.
Now, I am having a total OS mental block, but would love to prove to DH that i don't "need to pop out tomorrow and get some salad and bits" so he can eat for the week! It is just meals for one as I am a fussy eater!
So far I have thought of making Quiche, Tuna pasta salad, Chicken Pasta mix, homemade sausage rolls, but i want to surprise him and prove a point! Please help me you OS geniuses!0 -
Oooh i'm gonna be dead clever here (i hope)
How about stuffing the chicken with tomatoes and onions, making a white (or cheese) sauce and serving on a bed of rice/pasta?0 -

You could make a rice salad? http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/green-herb-and-rice-salad,1626,RC.html
Or how about making the mince and sausagemeat into meatloaf, which you can then serve warm with rolls and salsa?2015 comp wins - £370.25
