Landing in different London airport

If you are due to arrive to London Gatwick but instead was diverted to London Luton, does airline have any responsibility for getting you to Gatwick, or do the London airports count as the same destination?

We got diverted from Luton to Stansted. Rather than put on coaches, EJ said make your own way home/to Luton and they would pay. We went home in a taxi as we live closer and OH collected car the following day via train and coach. EJ paid all the costs no problem. Only thing that wasn't covered was the extra car park fee, but by good luck I'd taken out the insurance for late arrival so the insurance covered that.
