Can no longer get FTTC deals in a full-fibre area?

I've been on comparison sites to get a new broadband installation for the aged parents who've been on mobile BB up to now.
Openreach have just installed fibre along their road so in theory they could get fibre to the property (FTTP). But I just want to get fibre to the cabinet to avoid the extra installation hassle (their internet use is very modest).
Problem is, if I follow a link from a comparison site for a FTTC deal, as soon as I enter the postcode, only FTTP deals are presented. Is this a known thing?

Yes.
Stop sell of FTTC is real, everyone will be moving to FTTP over time.1 -

I wish I had that problem .. All the streets around me and even the flats on the other side of my street have FTTP (both BT and Community Fibre , which I really want), but I still do not and about to need to sign up to a new contract.. on FTTC..0
