meter reading on electric meter

Good Evening, I'm unsure if anyone can help. My son lives in a 2-bed flat with just an electric. He was originally with British Gas; his first meter reading was 01309. He has smart meters but no access to the room they are in as they are not located in the flat, so he has never actually provided a reading. Stupidly, he took up an offer from some people outside Morrisons to switch to Scottish Power. They have been trying to charge him 230 a month for just electricity, we are disputing this, and he has gone back to British Gas but now has a £750 final bill. They said his starting reading with them on 6th November 2024 was 2933, his closing reading on 8th April 2025 is 7003. He has never missed a payment, and he paid the exit fee. My question is, does this seem correct? He is out at work all day, so the electricity is not constantly on.

He MUST get access to his meter and give the supplier a reading and again next month and the next ...........
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

That is not outrageous electricity usage for an all electric flat through winter - 4070 kWh in 153 days. How much has he paid Scottish Power in total, and what does the £750 cover? Look at the tariff he was on to see if it adds up.

Are those all actual readings from the smart meter or are any estimates? The bill will state which.

How often did SP give statements? If monthly, they would have shown an increasing debit balance. Possibly the person who signed him up gave an unrealistic monthly cost to suck him in.
