You can get a four way plug adapter which doesn't obstruct a double socket also has surge protectiontacpot12 said:If they really do need four sockets and you don't want a trailing extension, the only other thing is to add more sockets to the closest final electrical circuit. It's not notifiable work so you can do it yourself if you are competent and have the equipment to test your work.
We have 2 sockets in the hall - phone and router - no others available !Other versions are available

The problem is the OHShe has an inbuilt fear that any extension leads are going to burst into flames !So we will need a hardwired solution. ie) Proper sockets installed

How does she cope in the kitchen? Fridge, stove, microwave, kettle, toaster, mixer, air-fryer etc. My OH couldn't survive without an extension lead for her appliances, and she has 9 permanent sockets available!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. You can get a 4 gang adaptor that replaces the single or double socket but that still involves removing the original faceplate. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Convertor-Socket-1G-4-Gang-13A/dp/B086Z1N1PYOr if it is just "extension leads" she is scared of how about a couple of these, not a problem for low current devices https://www.amazon.co.uk/BAANI-Way-Double-Plug-Adaptor-2-Pack/dp/B0BDGCB4R7

I agree when they have the plug-type power supply units hanging out of them or using them with heating appliances but they are OK when its just normal stuff plugged in.MouldyOldDough said:

The four-way converter looks good or just use a 4-way extension. They are safe enough especially as you will be using them with the telecom equipment power supply units rather than having them all hanging out of the wall.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
We had Cityfibre install full fibre recently and were told we'd need 2 available sockets but that a surge protected extension lead would be ok. We'd decided on one corner in the living room for the router and ONT where we had 2 spare sockets, but then we realised we have a Hive hub so need a 3rd. We decided on the extension cable option in the opposite corner which is better anyway as there's already a small table there the router can sit on. Extension cables are perfectly safe as long as you don't overload them with items that heat such as tumble dryers, airfryer etc.MouldyOldDough said:The problem is the OHShe has an inbuilt fear that any extension leads are going to burst into flames !So we will need a hardwired solution. ie) Proper sockets installed1
