Greek Flight Cancelled due to industrial action

My flight to Rhodes was cancelled last week due to industrial action.  I was texted less than 24 hours before the flight.

It turned out to be too difficult to get a replacement flight and so we just decided not to go.

I have since received a refund from Easyjet for me and my two daughters.

I have looked into compensation and some sites say that as it wasn't airlines fault, we are not due any.  Another site has said they will take on my claim, but will charge £162 per person per claim if we are successful and that we are likely to get £342 per person in compensation.  So, after their cut, we will end up with £180 each.

Is there a way or a website that I could look into doing the compensation claim myself rather than through a third party because an almost 50% fee of our compensation seems steep.

Flight strike? Your right for compensation | Flightright

Flight cancelled or delayed due to strike?

Strikes are a common cause for flight disruption, whether this be the personnel of an airport or an airline. Unfortunately, as strikes are deemed by EU regulation to be beyond the airlines’ control, passengers are unable to make compensatory claims in these cases. Food and refreshments will be made available at the airport for affected passengers, and the airline is expected to organise alternative transportation as soon as they can.

You can claim compensation directly from any airline without having to pay a claim management company. easyJet's claim form is here https://www.easyjet.com/en/claim/EU261

However whether you're successful or not will depend on who was on strike -  easyJet will only be responsible if it's their own staff or staff directly contracted by them.

If it was this event https://www.independent.co.uk/bulletin/lifestyle/simon-calder-greece-flights-strike-b2730229.html (Wednesday 9th April) then it was Air Traffic Control so easyJet aren't liable.

I wouldn't go anywhere near these "ambulance chaser" compensation outfits.
The cause of the flight cancellation was outwith Easyjet's control.

    I agree with NoodleDoodleMan.

This was out of their control. I wouldn't be trying to get compensation like that when this is nothing to do with easyjet.

but if this was ATC as mentioned any claim will fail as no compensation due so you would be due a % of £0. Some of these companies will collect your data, check out the reason for delay and then say there is nothing they can do. Waste of time unless you confirm the delay was within the airlines control...and if it was you would claim direct.
