Airbnb Rip Off

Options
Last week I requested a 3 day booking on Airbnb but it was immediately rejected by the host. Airbnb took the full booking fee from my debit card on making the request. It is 7 days and I still haven't received the refund. The link " Track you Refund " doesn't work. It just goes to 404 Error. I have heard Airbnb can keep the funds for 15 business days. What a rip off when no legal transaction has taken place. This practice should be publicised more!

What’s the difference between Air BnB and “old fashioned” B & Bs?  I’ve looked at some of the Air BnB properties and they seemed quite expensive.  Once OH has his hip replacement we’re going to tour round a bit.  :)

I would personally never use AirBnB.
The extra costs, the fact the host can say you damaged or dirtied something and charge you for it, and you don't have much chance of fighting it, I find crazy.

    problem with Airbnb
this last one was so dirty , dog hairs everywhere, cooker unusable, baby bed mattress badly stained cot base full of old food . Floors stained pots all needed washing before use. Towels x linen smelt of cigarettes. Windows filthy sills full of dead flies.. they want to refund me the cleaning fee ( that’s paid for after we leave not because it hasn’t been cleaned for a long time ! )and a discount on my next booking.. they’re fighting a full refund!!

Did you stay in the property for the original duration booked?
Did you complain on arrival and give the host the opportunity to resolve the matter at the outset?
If so, a full refund would seem to be more than you are reasonable entitled to.
You still derived value from staying at the property.
A partial refund for the extent to which the property was not cleaned to the standards you would normally expect seems reasonable.
Some may say to add a bit for loss of enjoyment.
