Money Moral Dilemma: Should our neighbour pay us for taking in his parcels when he's out?
Comments

We are always happy to take an occasional package for our neighbors, and they do the same for us. In this case, though, it's a business and you are essentially an employee. You should be paid for providing a business service. I think you should discuss this with your neighbor on a friendly basis, not as confrontational as some of the other replies seem to suggest.1

He is treating you as though you were mugs. Stop taking them round. If they take too much space in your house and you don't have a porch or garage, refuse to take any more.
I would not tell him he has had a parcel (surely he is notified by the postal service). Just wait for him to pick them up.
I would not ask for money, though. Either accept the parcels and let him fetch them from you or tell him that you are unfortunately unable to take any more parcels on a regular basis. (You don't have to explain or apologise - after all, you have been doing him a huge favour.) But expecting payment is a step too far.3 -
CapeTown said:So basically you take his parcels and he takes yours.....is that correct. How is this a dilemma4

So the only "problem" appears to be that the neighbour is rude and doesn't reciprocate your collecting/dropping parcels off - which is inconsiderate. You could always knock on the door and ask them to collect the heavy parcels or just stop taking them and arrange for your parcels to be delivered when you are home.1

Invite him round for drinks and discuss that you may be going on holiday soon and why doesn’t he invest in a secure drop box?
You could get one too.

By taking the parcels over to your neighbour, you've made it a no brainer for him to keep doing it
Don't take them round and let him do the legwork of collecting them.3 -
This is not just a neighbour being out for the day and asking you as a favour to take in the odd parcel, & even then they should come and collect it.
This is you working for a business run from your neighbours property but not being paid.
Where is this neighbour going all day every day? Don't ask for payment, just say no more!1 -
Just politely tell the delivery driver you are unable to take the parcel in. He'll soon make other arrangements.3

do not accept any more parcels. If your neighbour asks why just say you were out.1

Just re-sell his parcels and see if he buys them. Failing that tell him to eff.......0
