Probate grant mistake (theirs)

Having come to use the grant of probate for the first time I realise they have put the wrong estate valuation figures. I put the exact amount as advised by IHT and they have moved the comma making millions rather than thousands.....what do I do ? I should have checked when I received it but never thought they would make such an error

You say they moved the comma did they also add some zeros and an extra comma?

I rang them today.
They said it didn't matter !!0 -
Who are they? Please dont tell me its a will writing service because id not expect the response of "it doesnt matter" to something like this from a solicitor.
If it was the probate registry telling you this then id not worry

The Probate folk. Sorry, I didn't make it clear. I thought they would tell me to send the grants back and they would need to be re-issued with the correct figures but they said not. Still seems a little strange to me but they should know.0

This has happened recently to someone I know. They contacted the Probate office who at first argued the mistake was hers. She ended up phoning the PO back and spoke to a different advisor, who was able to check the IHT forms and could see that it was the PO at fault - they issued a new certificate which arrived within days. It’s a legal document and should be accurate - imagine if there was some dispute and the certificate stated that there was £1million in the estate instead of £10k?0

Was not aware they can actually check the IHT forms which are not automatically saved. It’s good to know. I would have insisted they corrected their mistake. Thanks0
