  • Well, finally we had the call from someone.  As i deal with the accounts, my husband asked for them to speak to me - she was not very happy that we were both listening and answering questions.  However, after security checks, I said we wanted to pay for 2 missing years.  After more questions, we were forwarded to someone else who gave us the payments details and the 18 digit reference. however, it was only for one of the missing years. When i said there was another year to pay, she said basically tough - the reference was only for 1 year and that was all i could pay.  I have now paid for that year, but how do we go back and arrange for the second year?

Are you certain the second year is viable, did you discuss with the original operator how one and two years would affect your pension ?
You would need to call DWP to discuss the problem, people are having some success calling now.

  • Hey everyone, I still have not received a call-back. I did received one a month or so after I registered (and I did register on time). The guy just wanted to confirm my details, and said that I would be getting the "actual call" sometime soon. I am not completely sure, but I think that was about 4 or 5 months ago. I am getting worried now that they have missed me.

Give them a call, people have been getting through.   They are prioritising by retirement date and looking at their progress around Christmas would likely be a completion date
  • I received a second letter, instead of a call back, giving me calculations and saying to call HMRC instead. I tried calling HMRC yesterday and to my astonishment, I got through, payment sorted!!

I had the first "triage" call (checking DOB, NI no. etc.) at the end of May and was awaiting a 2nd but last month I received a letter detailing the payments I could make and settled down expecting a long wait on the phone to get the reference number to make the payment. To my surprise my call was answered withing about 5 minutes and the adviser checked through and gave me the reference number and bank details to make the payment. That all went through and my record now shows all the years as fully paid so I am just waiting for the recalculation of my pension, which I believe can take some time.
  • Thanks for that everyone. I haven't received a letter, and still awaiting the 2nd call. What is the number that you have to call to follow up?
