ID Checks

Options
I have a holiday booked with Parkdean which I do every year.  No problems until this year. Apparently now they want to carry out ID checks.  Not sure why a UK holiday requires this.  Some people who book UK holidays don't think they don't need a passport that's probably why they holiday in the UK in the first place.
Parkdean are using a company called YOTI which they claim is UK government certified yet when I search the name "YOTI" on GOV.UK it doesn't recognise it.
Has anyone else come across this?

ID verification for UK holidays may not be universal but is not unusual either.

I've stayed at many Park Dean places and never heard of this.

I am staying at a park next month but it is independent and no mention of id check

The only ID check that I recall were carried out by a uk company was haven who used such checks to ban those with Irish/traveller names. Haven was fined a huge amount for discrimination

I should think so too.  We go on a lot of short breaks in the U.K. and have never been asked for ID.  One year we went to Ireland and needed ID for the plane but it didn’t have to be a passport.  Driving licences are accepted more or less everywhere.

Some years ago I went on a sailing trip to France.  There were 8 of us and we had a small yacht.  Fabulous holiday and the man in charge was a serving Naval Officer so he really knew what he was doing.  :). He told us to bring passports and as I didn’t have one at the time I got a 1 year Visitors Passport.  The interesting thing was everywhere we moored he had to show the yacht’s registration details but never once in the 3 weeks were we asked for our passports  :D

ID checks seem to be random, but they tell you why they do them on this page:

It doesn't need to be a passport

    • Citizen Card
    • Driving Licence
    • Passport
    • Post Office PASS Card
    • Biometric Residence Permit
    • Young Scot Card

If you are unable to upload one of the above in Yoti, you can speak to our helpful team via Live Chat and upload a photo of an alternative ID (see below). You can access this by clicking ‘Chat now’ when logging into ‘Manage My Booking’, or by visiting our contact us page.

    • Utility Bill (dated within the last 3 months)
    • Current Council Tax Bill
    • Tenancy Agreement
    • Bank Statement
    • Old Style Driving Licence

Please note we only require name, address and date visibility within the last 3 months. Please make sure the name and address on your ID match the details on your booking.
