iMac - will it cost less in UK

Options
Hello, I’ve been considering a new Apple IMac for a while (big purchase for me) and was about to buy one - but I was thinking that if US tariffs to China stay in place is there a chance that prices in UK might drop to a degree that O should hold off for now? I know all is very uncertain at the moment - so just interested in people’s point of view - especially from
people in the know!

I very much doubt the price will drop in the UK, though it will almost certainly rise in the US.

More likely it rises in the UK and the RoW so they can limit the rise in the US.

If it is a big purchase I would recommend you do not buy it at all as it does not sound like you can afford it. If you are just buying it because you like Apple or the way it looks I would leave it. The cost of living is only going up and with the tariffs coming back in 90 days we do not know if there will be a recession or any other problems. Do you have enough savings to not work for 12 months? If not, start saving.

One thing to investigate is the refurbished offerings direct from Apple.  Depending on exactly what you are after you might be able to make a decent saving.

As to the original question it is possible all Apple prices will rise to offset some of the increase that US purchasers will face.

That’s a little bit of a leap given the extremely limited information that the OP just wants to buy an iMac, do you not think?
Many people are on this site because they like a bargain, not because they’re living beyond their means.
Yes. Quite a leap and poster assumed too much! I’m all good for affording it thanks - just careful with big purchases and was just was interested in what people thought impacts of tariffs might be in UK and if anyone thought prices likely to fall here.

but coincidentally another poster has pointed out another Trump concession this PM - and I did say things were very unpredictable. So guess we can all consider this thread moot now!

    Not necessarily.
Items such as computers are not priced on a "bottom-up" basis to make a fair profit but are priced to the maximum the market will bear.
It is quite possible that manufacturers will see the turbulence and use it as an excuse to drive the prices up, whether in USA or RoW.
