EV Cabling

Hi everybody,
I'm hoping to get an EV charger fitted, but my Consumer Board is in the middle of the house under the stairs.
Is it possible to run the cables in the house and is there a good way to hide them, also once the cable goes outside it will need to be armoured cable, will the internal cable need to be armoured?
Hope that makes sense, thanks for reading!

Hi, my parents had the same thing where their smart meter was in the middle of the house. I thought it would cause an issue, but when the guy came he didn't even blink. He routed it upstairs to the loft then across the loft and down to the wall. Do you have a route up to the loft from the cupboard or anything like that?
We did try to get someone to come out and check it first, but people just weren't interested/didn't turn up.
In the end we went through Currys who routed us through Ohme (I wanted a company like currys for me to complain to if it went wrong). Ohme got me to fill in a form and make a drawing of where the meter was and where the charger went. They also wanted a video and I obliged.
We had to pay the £900 (something like that) upfront on the understanding it would be refunded if they couldn't do it or wanted to charge a lot extra.
In the end it took the guy about 2 hours and he didn't charge any extra.1 -

They are far better being wired as a separate circuit from the meter supply.
Such as below, all down the righthand side of meterbox.

We have a similar situation. There is a junction box on the outside wall, the internal cable comes in through the wall (above the front door), over the doorway to the living room, along the side of the stairwell (there is a beam it runs under), and through the stairs down into the under-stairs cupboard that the meters are in.Owing partly to our PodPoint being fitted during the pandemic, we fitted the internal cable ourselves on the advice of the PodPoint electrician. IIRC the internal cable is not armoured, he told us what spec to get. He then returned, supplied/fitted the external cable and charge unit, and made all the connections and did the safety checks etc.

Think key for me is the internal cables not needing to be armoured makes all the difference to made it tidy, if that is the case.0

it doesn't really look too much out of place, even in the loft as he made quite a neat job.0 -

Yes, it's eminently possible. The question is how much work is needed, and how much making-good of decor afterwards.
No, it doesn't need to be armoured unless there's a risk of physical damage to them, as there is outside.

My friend had the same issue, also had bedroom conversion in the loft.He was lucky as had a half height basement as such, a 3ft void under the floor. So we drilled a hole ( well me as I'm shorter ) in the floor and front house wall and ran cable clips to the front of the house where he wanted the charger to be placed. The fitter was well pleased.0
