I used the car finance tool on this site to write to Santander.

i received the answer:

After reviewing our records, we can confirm that there was no DCA in place between us and the credit broker relating to your finance agreement”

Do I take this on face value and accept the answer?

    Yes.

If they lie then they'll be putting their business at risk.

Are you suggesting that Santander is committing fraud and risking fines of £20m+ plus, and individuals working for them are being sacked and unable to work in financial services again?

As others have stated, it is extremely unlikely that any financial organisation would risk providing incorrect information.

We used the MSE template to send an email to Santander in respect of finance we took out on car on PCP through Volvo. They responded with an email and a letter as acknowledgement of receipt. A few weeks later we received an email and letter as follows. There was a DCA in place, potentially good news, depending on the ruling and outcome. Now it's a waiting game.

We can confirm that a DCA was in place between us and the credit broker relating to your finance agreement/

We understand from your request that this is the only information required to fulfil your Data Subject Access Request and therefore we now consider that your request has been resolved.

As there was a DCA in place, we have logged your complaint. You will receive a formal acknowledgement letter in the post, and we will begin to investigate the commission arrangement that was in place.

Please note that as a result of the Financial Conduct Authority’s pause on complaints handling in connection with DCAs, we won’t be able to provide you with a final response until 4th December 2025 at the earliest.
