Can i appeal fine for overstaying?

Options
I used a privately run car park next to a  children's playground as was with my 2 year old grandson. It was mid afternoon and I intended to stop only for an hour as we were on our way home. I paid for 1 hour. However I forgot about the time (at 62 years old playing with my grandson time just slipped by). It was about 20-25 mins late when I remembered (so 1 hour 25 mins after ticket start time).. I then went to machine and put in another hour.  We left about 20 mins later. So although only stayed about 1 hour 45 minutes there was a gap of 25 minutes unpaid. Also I didn't realise until later (as the tariff board was not next to the machine but a few metres away) but cost for up to 1 hour is £1.50 but up to 3 hours is £6 so i underpaid. This was all a genuine mistake on my part. Do I have any valid basis to appeal the fine ?

Its not a fine,  its an invoice for the alleged breach of the parking contract on that private property,  an underpayment,  not an overstay , the true definition is

Insufficient payment for the time on site

You can appeal it on any basis that you can think of,  even abduction by aliens,  but

To be sensible,  there usually needs to be a good legal reason to appeal a private parking company charge, so you would definitely lose based on the information so far

It could be said that the signage wasn't clear and there were 2 honest intentions to pay the correct amount,  but frankly only a judge could be swayed in that way,  IMHO,  like in the 2 cases in the following thread

So, which parking company issued the pcn  ?

Which nation or location was this in or at  ?
