You mention mediation. That doesn't actually achieve anything and I always do zero offer.
I haven't read through lots of the posts here myself, but I'm assuming that Matt/Kevin/Luke (the authors of the guide) must have looked through a fair few as the guide says:
Positively, a number of MSE Forumites have found mediation to be beneficial, with reports of parking firms essentially giving up and agreeing to settle for £0 at this stage. Clearly, there's no guarantee of this happening in your case, but this does illustrate the potential benefit of continuing to hold your ground.

As it does also point out, of course there's no guarantee that it'll make a difference, but it doesn't sound like it's completely worth writing off.

Maybe message Matt/Kevin/Luke and ask them for links to these 'successes'.

    Let us know.
Sorry, this whole thing has just skipped my mind again. Just dropped an email over to MSE uerying this and will come back once I receive a reply :)

Edit: received an automated reply so not clear if it'll still go through to the team and/or if they will reply, but will update if they do!

I seem to recall there were some drop hands £0 cases last year. I didn't think that the guide was wrong when I checked it and liaised with the guys who wrote it. Probably fairer to say we had more £10 settlement examples but zero wasn't unheard of last year IIRC.

Although £0 would be nice given all the stress and the way it's been poorly handled, that honestly would be much fairer imo and something I'd be happy with and it sounds like there's still some hope left so fingers crossed!

Moorside Legal won't settle at mediation stage but they usually discontinue before the hearing fee has to be paid.
