Migration To Universal Credit If state Pension is near

Options
Does anybody know if, they'll leave people alone if they're due to retire soon. So it seems pointless to ask those people to migrate over only for them to be eligible for state pension within a short time.

I know they left so many on Incapacity Benefit for several years rather than moving them to ESA exactly for that reason.  Just wondering if Universal Credit has a similar plan or if anyone has seen information regarding migration for people about to reach state pension age.

Probably not, its a system generated thing.  How long do you have until retirement?

As sammyjammy has posted, how long do you have left to pension age? The DWP have brought forward the move to UC so that everyone will be moved by the end of the year.

Myself about nine years. It does seem unfair on people due to hit retirement.  But with ESA they had a limit of 3 years they could remain on that until reaching state pension age. But I guess with every month that passes there will be less legacy people to move and be more cost effective.

I've recently had a client moved to Uc with only a couple of months left to go until state retirement age for the youngest 9 mixed age couple ). This was from working tax credits.

Tax Credits is slightly different as the benefit ended April 2025, so there was no option to defer. If they wanted to continue to receive benefit after April 2025, then it was UC or nothing. ESA only claimants are slightly different as there is the potential to defer if the claimant is very close to SPA. Whether they will or not, I have no idea.
