Phone and Broadband for Parents

Hi, my parents have been shunted from SSE to Origin for phone and broadband (FTTC). They were vey happy with SSE but Origin seem to be hopeless - so they want to move.  I think that if they do they will end up having to go to FTTP - which will be added trauma!
They want basic broadband, a phone line and, ideally, paper billing - and would happily pay extra for good customer support.
Any particular recommendations please?

If you're in an FTTP only area you're out of luck.

The SSE -> Origin thing happened years ago back in 2022, its TalkTalk in new colours.

If Openreach have rolled out FTTP availability to the premises and there is a stop-sell rule in force, you'll only have two choices come renewal time - stay with the current ISP (using SoGEA - FTTC without a phone line where you use VOIP instead) or switch to FTTP. You could also switch to an alternative network if that is available but it will be FTTP. Or use a 4G/5G internet service. Eventually sometime in the future the FTTC services will cease and you'll have no option but to move to FTTP. Openreach want everyone switched to FTTP where they have it available.
