Broadband prices.

I currently pay £48 for FTTC and a phone line. Far far too much so decided to look around at prices. I’ve decided I just want broadband only and getting rid of the house phone.
On my Sky app they say a Sky Vip price of £27 for full fibre 500. I phoned BT today and after a lot of faff,  offering bt tv etc that I don’t want, I was offered their 500 speed for £33.99.

How do these prices compare to what others pay ?

I guess I’d prefer to stay with BT, I’ve read somewhere Sky’s broadband support is now India which, with respect, I do not want to be phoning with issues.

The number I phoned was 0333 123 4150, someone in Dundee initially then passed through to someone else who does the deals. He said that was the best price they could do. Is there any other BT number I could try to try get an even better price.
I'm generally not very good at haggling but I’ll try give it a go to try save a bit of money in these tough times 😬

Many thanks

Do you phone up often? I was with BT for four years and didn't call once (except speaking to retentions) Now with Vodafone fttp - £30 a month plus cashback although I can't use the phone service as I won't be using their router.

Cityfibre £22-60 month for 80-2gig.  £25-30 for 500-1gig is most popular offer.

Comparing prices is what the price comparison websites are for.
What do you get offered at eg.
I signed up with Vodafone (who have a reputation for terrible CS) via the MSE comparison tool last month. I'm getting 80Mb/s FTTC with phone for £26 a month (more like £20 a month once you allow for the gift card I won't receive until the summer).

One thing I noticed with plusnet, their guaranteed minimum speed is a lot less than other providers I’ve looked at. Their 500 full fibre package has a guaranteed 275, sky Bt  Zen have 400mbts minimum.  Any reason and is that a concern ?

I've found BT to be expensive as parents are with them.

I've been with Vodafone for a few years now as they had a good retention offer of £38 for 900mb. My son games a lot so I went for it. It's since gone up due to April price rises but I'm fine with that

Use a comparison website like meerkat and sort by price. You'll probably find the best are 2 year 68mb or thereabouts.  Unless you're a gamer, I wouldn't get too hung up on speed.

Cashback sites are worth looking at too. Some offer good amounts to sign up to the likes of Sky etc

High bandwidth (speed) is not so much of an issue for gamers once you are past ADSL speeds. One of the biggest complaints for Vodafone is for poor latency (ping) which is bad for gamers.

BT and Sky had the lowest latency of the OpenReach ISP's in recent surveys that I have seen and are in the top half of the customer satisfaction surveys.
