So I still have no bills showing in my British Gas account. How about anyone else ?0

I am asking for advice on behalf of my sister who has been in dispute with Rebel over in accurate readings since she moved into her rented flat and now expect her to settle her bill! When they still haven’t resolved the issue. British Gas can’t / unable to assist until settled. She hasn’t got the money to do this and then wait for a credit. The proposed monthly amount is too high! Is there a way around all of this? Rebel were slow to come back to her on her initial query and then she has been in hospital in this time and has constantly chased Rebel with no response/action from them and now we know why! I have suggested Citizen advice…..0

If not, that should be her first step. If BG can't resolve her complaint within 8 weeks, she can escalate her complaint to the Ombudsman.N. Hampshire, he/him. If they have, what's wrong with their calculations and needing to be disputed?N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.

If they have, what's wrong with their calculations and needing to be disputed?Getting to the bottom of this could become tricky without direct access to your sister and her meter.Gas meters generally measure in cubic metres, although some older ones instead measure in hundreds of cubic feet. Modern meters are digital, ancient ones have rotating pointers which needs some skill to read accurately. Also, the opening reading on your sister's account will be the closing reading on the previous housholder's account. What does she think the opening reading is, and what different reading do Rebel have?Did she take a photo of the meter when she read it on taking over the property? Can you share that photo here?N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.
