Ive been trying to book a car hire in Majorca and all suppliers Ive checked insist that you have a credit card with your full name on (no abbreviations), so Barclaycard for instance will not be acceptable, If you cant provide one, they insist you take out special insurance that is double the cost of your original insurance (basically a scam) does anyone know a way around this ?

Book through a UK based broker such as Zest.0

Speak to your banks about getting how your name is presented on your card changed?
Dont have my wallet with me at the moment, but without doubt I have at least one with the full Dull Grey Guy on the front and I know I've had at least one where you could choose from a range like Sir DG Guy or Sir Dull G. Guy or Dull Grey Guy1 -

Just checked 4 cards in my wallet:
Nationwide Flexplus - First two initials plus surname
Nationwide Credit Card - First Name, middle initial, surname
First Direct Debit card - First inital plus surname
Lloyds Credit Card - First Name, middle initial, surname
Would my credit cards be acceptable or not because they have an abbreviation?
To be honest, this sounds like a ploy to get you to pay for their insurance.0 -
Barclaycard only show First initial, Middle initial and Surname. No clue as to gender . It's always seemed a bit odd - whilst I'm female, it wouldn't draw attention if a male attempted to use it.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660

To the OP: stick to established and reputable companies like Hertz/Thrifty, Europcar/Keddy, Sixt, Alamo/Enterprise, and Avis/Budget. You shouldn't have any problems with these guys.0 -
Or use a broker - Rentalcars, Auto-europe, etc.0
