has everyone use less gas this march compared to last year
i'm looking on the octopus app and says i used 1325kwh last march yet last month i only used 927
i did get my loft insulated in dec24 so wondering if thats having anything to do with it
if this reducation continues i can see my gas bill dropping over the year

It's been the driest and sunniest March since 1961.Might not have been the warmest (we had more frosty nights than usual) but still warmer than usual.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.

I used 197 kWh this March, last March 759 kWh. I have been using as little heating as I could comfortably this winter to save money, but since late February have barely needed it on at all and been pretty comfortable. There seem to have been a lot of frosts in the last month but day time has been warmer.1

180kWh in March 2024. 300kWh for March this year. Gas consumption for this winter has been higher than the previous year. Probably because I haven't been using the wood stove so much. That said, still on target to use less than 3000kWh for the whole year.

We used the same amount of gas as last year but that's because we're running the house warmer and, like freebear, not using our stove as much.0

We used the same amount of heating with the ASHP as last March but then again we were running a different schedule to maximise Octopus Cosy tariff cheap slots so perhaps that notional 10% saving over degree was eaten up by that.

MY water butts are almost empty, use the water to flush the toilet but turned the gas off in Feb, so lowest ever gas consumption over winter.0

It has been frustratingly warm and dry. We are on clay with some fields worse than others. Clay has 6 months of being slop and 6 months of being concrete with about 1 week in between where it is pliable and can rolled. Normally that is in April/May but it was March this year. I am hoping for a cooler and wetter spell to turn the clay back to pliable again to allow me to roll the bits I have missed. it sometimes happens that a second window appears
Our oil use was heavier earlier in the year because of the very cold -6 ° C temps, which we didn't get last year. However, March was very low use due to milder weather and over the Dec to March period, it evened itself out to last year. Indeed, I reordered the oil with just one day difference to last year in both December and March refills.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I can't meaningfully compare last year and this because I installed a couple of storage heaters in the summer. But one thing I have noticed is how much difference that sunshine makes. I have a large south facing window in my living room and even on cold mornings the living room stays at a comfortable temperature without heating when the sun is shining.
April has had a flying start too and looks set to continue. The curtains automatically closed yesterday afternoon to stop the living room getting too hot0
