Still seems strange to have a delay message like "being delayed - more info in 90 minutes".  Was it counting down and changing each time it was viewed?  I really have only ever seen ones with a specific time (e.g. Delayed 17:00) or next information time (e.g. Delayed. Next Info 17:00).

Too late now but at any of these larger airports with separate Schengen controls, always best to go through those as soon as you can as queues can be busy at times.

I am really not sure how far you can progress this.  As others have said, it is an airport complaint, rather than airline one.  I think they will argue that some (many?) of the passengers made the flight.   Thirty passengers missing it however does seem a lot and must have raised issues at the time.  Such a large number of no shows would probably create issues with take off weight calculations and possibly baggage off loading issues.

Barcelona Airport comes under the control os AENA.  You could bring to their attention by completing the online complaint/feedback form linked below - https://www.aena.es/en/josep-tarradellas-barcelona-el-prat/get-to-know-us/contact.html.  You probably need to be specific about the location of the information board that you felt gave incorrect information. And to the wording.

ESKBANKER -  The flight was due to leave Barcelona at 10.05am. When I checked the screens at approx. 9.50am that was showing last call. I would estimate it took me 15 minutes to get to passport control arriving at the gate approx.10.10am.  The flight departed at 10.20am

MARTINDOW - Sorry to hear this. I didn't know you could even go through passport control unless your flight had been called !!

That only answers some of the questions!

When did the screens last refer to a wait of 90 minutes for next info (and, as above, was this just a rolling 90 minutes rather than a specific time)?

Was there no indication of the gate number (the specific one or even the non-Schengen group of gates) prior to 09:50?

If you're going to try to construct a case against the airport, then you'll need to be clear about exactly what they did, and didn't, do.

By the way, you referred earlier to "I (once again) presumed  the flight had not even left Manchester" but the aircraft for your flight wasn't necessarily coming from Manchester - the one a couple of days ago arrived from Turin, for example, a much shorter hop....

WESTIN - Once again many thanks for your reply. I didn't realise you could go through passport control (lesson learnt).
It was approx 30 stranded at gate - there may have been more but I left the area as soon as I was told the plane had gone. There may have been more arrived after me?? I understand Ryanair as a private company are not subject to the freedom of information act as I wanted to get a report on how many passengers didn't make it onto the plane. I will contact AENA but won't hold my breath. Thanks again.

Perhaps the question should be- How did those that did get on the flight know it was boarding and to go to the gate?

I think the Ryanair app provides gate information, and perhaps even proactive notifications, and there'll be other online resources, so many won't have relied solely on the airport screens....

Edit: yes, the app does have such features, although they do still refer passengers to the airport info screens too:
How can I check if my flight is on time?

You can use our Day of Travel Assistant on the Ryanair App to get real-time in-app updates about your flight status, gate numbers, and boarding information.

    Download the Ryanair App.

Note: The airport info screens will always have the latest info and you should regularly check them during your time at the airport.

It was a few years ago, so I've got over it and it's turned into an anecdote to relate on occasions like this!
