the only increase on the new offer from edf is electric per unit is 0.0125p increase but that would be wiped out with lower charges on both gas sc and gas unit charge, also safeguarding yourself any price incrase untill sept 26 and a bonus if any future better deals comes along you have a zero exit feeswallofbeans said:Can anyone advise whether I should switch to this EDF Simply Fixed Direct Aug26v2 or stick with my current Octopus tariff?
Current Octupus is: Gas - 5.72 unit rate, 29.34 standing charge / Electric - 24.54 unit rate, 55.79 standing charge
And EDf is: Gas - 5.61 unit rate, 25.58 standing charge / Electric - 25.79 unit rate, 41.17 standing charge
There's no exit fee and I'd go through TCB too - it seems like a good idea, but any reason to not go for it?1 -
So it's worth going for it - right? It seems so, but I'm worried I am missing something!northernstar007 said:

Unit price for EDF Electricity is slightly higher than you're paying with Octopus, so it depends on your split of Gas and Electricity usage. I expect EDF would still win out, given the lower SC and Gas too.wallofbeans said:Can anyone advise whether I should switch to this EDF Simply Fixed Direct Aug26v2 or stick with my current Octopus tariff?

EDF are often criticised for the poor customer services. If that doesn't bother you, I believe British Gas (who are also renowned for poor customer service) have a good deal via some comparison sites. But, you should plug in your actual usage and make a decision based on that.3 -
I used to be with EDF and the customer service was a pain but manageable when needing to to use it..MeteredOut said:

but electric price has decreased to cover the higher gas, swings and roundabouts0

I'm only with EDF for gas (pretty much imprisoned there due to an ongoing dispute and them not fully implementing the Energy Ombudsman's decision). I'm with Octopus for electricity.northernstar007 said:but electric price has decreased to cover the higher gas, swings and roundabouts1 -
41p lekky sc vs 55p is a no brainer, as i think it is safe to say that over the next 12 months the sc will not drop to anywhere near 40p for the majorirty of the country, so i would be all over that up here in Glasgow if i could get it.0
