    Bluetooth can  be switched off.
    Wired is potentially better quality but a good Bluetooth speaker in your price bracket will still sound good and only non portable speakers might sound significantly better ( like those mentioned above).
    You have mentioned  desktop/portable for locations including workshop and 'elsewhere'. The monitors are not really designed for those latter movable locations plus for a single speaker how you you feed it with  wired mono sound in all the locations you might desire?

    What is the radiation issue?

    Have you considered a modern portable radio?

    Often it's better (and cheaper) to make your own. Especially if you have old style speakers you rarely use due to obsolescence. 

    But the LG XBOOM Go, or JBL tend to be compact and decent in sound, while being sub £50.
