Asda Credit Card Under Review

Hi, my Asda Credit Card has been under review since the 27th January 2025. The day it had happened I had only purchased a Sainsbury’s meal deal.
I have always consistently paid my card off in full every month without fail. Never let it build up interest.
On the day my card went into review, I had no idea until later that day I went to make a payment at M&S and my account kept saying declined.
I called them up that same evening where they were not sure why it had been blocked but would endeavour to sort this out for me as soon as possible.
I made my Feb payment in early Feb where I still had access to my online account.

I made my Feb payment in early Feb where I still had access to my online account.
After I made that payment, I was no longer able to access my online account.
I had wrote down exactly how much I owed for the next month march which I’ve been trying to find since but has gone missing. Life has been hectic and I can’t for the life of me recall the amount this was, it wasn’t much though.
I continuously called Asda after this point asking to make my payment and to know how much I owe. I was met with that no one could help me as it is with the relevant high up team.

As I didn’t know how much I owe, and with finances on a tight ship lately I was advised not to make payment.
I was reassured at the end of Feb that it wouldn’t take another month, and it has.
No one is helping me and now I am receiving threatening and intimidating emails which have now went to letters saying I will get a default on my account.
They tell me that can’t stop the default or letters from coming through and to ignore them but it is making me sick to my stomach as this is something that has never happened to me.
They chose not to uphold my complaint and listed me reasons why that I could be heading into bankruptcy which I’m not, that I’m using my card for business purposes that I’m not, that I’m money laundering that I’m not, if I’m spending above my means which I’m not. My card says I’m earning 28,000 when actually I am now on 36000.
I have contacted the financial ombudsman and have not had a response yet.

It is causing me distress, worry and since I have just bought a house there were things that we were planning on doing this year which now are on hold as as far as I’m aware I have a default on my account until they sort the situation out. They’ve given me missed messages as to whether I’ll have to cop the extra interest as a result of this after or it’ll be wiped. 75% of the colleagues I’ve spoken to have said anything I’ve incurred as a result will be removed and the other 25% said if it’s my fault I’ll be left with the missed payment and interest when there is no way at all that I can do about this.
i always paid my credit card off by linking my Lloyds card so I never had a direct debit in place which I’m definitely seeing the value of now.
please could someone offer me some advise. I’ve never been in this situation before, I’ve just turned 21 so has ruined my last few weeks.
am I able to eventually get compensation for the distress because every time I’ve called I’ve just asked for the full amount to pay it off. But as I’m basically being treated like a criminal they can’t tell me any information.
thanks

As above, whatever has gone wrong here, there is a formal complaints policy to follow, you can`t just go straight to the FOS, you need to send a formal complaint to ASDA credit card complaints team first.
Tell them what has happened, and ask for an explanation, they have 8 weeks in which to provide you with a final response.
If at this point, you still remain unhappy, then you can get the FOS involved.
Don`t read too much into the letters etc that you may be receiving, most are standard generic computer generated rubbish, wait and see what the outcome of your complaint is.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Asda credit card is provided by JaJa. Complain to them using this email address legal@jajafinance.com with "Card wrongly placed under review" as the title.
Detail what has happened and be very clear that you want any charges and interest removed and also any negative marks on your credit rating. Say if this has to go to the Ombudsman, you will be asking for compensation for the stress and time this has taken to resolve.0 -
Something seems a bit odd here. The OP advised that the CC is under review, yet the OP was still able to continue using the card to make payments (and also, for one month at least) make a payment to settle the balance.0
