though having been in a limbo since last August (when I was told my end date would be June), to move the goalposts this late on just throws up the defensive mechanisms,
A month (end of July) doesn't that much of a change. Perfectly normal for key personnel to be retained until key tasks are finally complete. Worth remembering that even the line managers you are reporting too may themselves be heading for redundancy ultimately.  Company reorganisation is often from from straightforward.
