Old mobiles
I have a load of old mobiles, ranging from the very old (e.g early Nokia) to newer (e.g. Samsung S7).
I am in the process of wiping everything on them at the moment.
Was wondering - what is the best thing to do with them?
I know there used to be companies that gave you money when you sent them in but not sure if any still exist.
Or is it worth just taking them to the nearest recycling centre?

I normally take old phones to my local CEX. It's easiest. You could try selling on eBay if you have the time for all that. You might well earn more money than you'd get from CEX1

Recycling centre as it sounds like all of them are out of support for security updates, so essentially paperweights unless recycled for their precious metals.2

We have a Repair Shop in the villages around here.A van comes to take any phones, tablets, laptops and they wipe and renovate them to be given to people who can't afford to buy one. They are given a free sim card too. Lasts 18mts with no charge.

How do you wipe them? I'm hanging on to mine not because they are useful, but because I am not confident there is a backup of a backup somewhere lurking. I really don't want anyone else getting hold of any of my information.snowmen said:I have a load of old mobiles, ranging from the very old (e.g early Nokia) to newer (e.g. Samsung S7).

A factory reset of the phone will stop anyone short of the security services from accessing your data. Otherwise, bottom of the sock drawer or a Big Hammer.Rosa_Damascena said:

The Three network have a scheme called “Reconnect” where you can donate your old mobile phone to someone who may be in digital need.
You request a prepaid package from Three, return the phone to factory settings, then send it to them in the post. They do the rest.
Don’t think you have to be a Three customer.2 -
