Put a deposit on a 2016 Nissan Qashqai today

While the puncture repair kit TRAY was in the boot - it was empty, apart from one or maybe two long thin metal screw tool things (sorry, don't know how else to describe them)

When I asked the garage (not Nissan - they sell all brands) where the rest of the puncture repair bits were - they said the car was being sold as they received it

Obviously I can't prove if they removed the parts that make up the kit - but given I have my own 12 volt digital compressor that I'll remove from my outgoing Peugeot 207 - am I missing out on anything special by that puncture repair Tray missing all its contents?

Googling it seems the Qashqai puncture repair foam / kits aren't up to much...

Also - we had a real nightmare with our used Peugeot 207 not having its Alloy wheel nut unlocking thingy bob when we had to have a wheel removed for some MOT repairs several years back - Halfords had to weld off the existing nuts / and replace them with off the shelf ones because we had no wheel nut unlocking thingy bob

So today I asked the Qashqai guys if that wheel nut removing thingy part was in the car

They checked...and told me it's missing

- but told me they would go to a local Nissan dealership tomorrow with the Qashqai - and get one from them - telling me there are NOT unique ones for every single Qashqai - but about 7 or 8 different ones - that a Nissan dealership will be able to provide the correct replacement for

Are my car sellers correct about the above?

First things first, I don't trust them already.
If they can't fix these two simple thing, what are they going to do if your car breaks down in a week ?.

Even if the tyre repair kit was in the car it would be out of date.
The one in my car is 9 years old.
    Might not work.
I keep a can or 2 of holts tyreweld in the boot.
    Plus a tyre plug kit.
The seller should provide the locking wheel nut.
If not, I would find out how much a new one is and ask them to take it off the price of the car.

Many thanks - sorry, I didn't mention in my OP...but the main guy indicated they'd get me a replacement locking wheel nut at no additional cost to me

Also thanks for letting me know the puncture repair stuff gets out of date

Lastly - looking at YouTube videos it seems the Air compressors that Qashqais came with are those awful analogue dial ones (I've owned those types) - I much prefer the two digital ones I bought at Tesco / and off the Internet - even though they are over twice as expensive

I still use my Ring Automotive RAC605 from 2013, £4.31 from Amazon.

forget the repair kit and buy a spare wheel with Jack and wheel brace. It doesn’t have to be a full size spare.  Do make sure they do get you a locking wheel nut key though, having said that I am not sure I would trust them

It’s a 9 year old Qashqai - missing puncture kit and locking wheel nut tool likely to be the least of your problems

    1) If you have a puncture, and the Nice Man from the RAC arrives, if you don't have either the gloop or a spare wheel, he will shrug and tell you he can't do anything. If you do have the gloop, but it won't work he will take your wheel to a tyre fitter or arrange recovery. (Unless their policy has changed from when it happened to SIL)
Plenty of kits on eBay, although I'd spend a bit more on a spacesaver and jack.

(The reason that there are plenty on eBay is because people remove everything loose from their car just before they take it to trade-in (spacesaver, pump, tools, rear parcel shelf, boot floor, charger if it is an EV etc.) and then sell them on eBay to make a few more pounds.

    2) They are quite correct. It is easy for them to get a replacement. Do NOT accept the car without one that you have physically tried and ensured that it fits. Accept no promises of "It's on order- we'll pass it on when it arrives" etc.

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Most cars don't have a spare wheel now, so they probably didn't really check or insist it was there when they got it. We've had similar with a car that didn't have a parcel shelf but they just took it from another car. So yeah it's on you to decide if you want to insist that they supply you the missing parts or you source them yourselve.

Them getting a new locking nut from Nissan seems reasonable, there are only a few options.

Nothing about that screams problem, assuming the rest of the car checks out, history, hpi, condition.

The RAC  will put the universal spare wheel on that they carry and follow you home or to a tyre fitter

Interesting - when we bought our used Peugeot 207 in 2016 - I asked where the spare wheel and tools for it were - the garage said he's selling the car "as he received it" - so I later sourced my own spare wheel and full kit off E-bay (somehow got sent a brand new set that had never been used)

So it's quite possible both the 207 and this Qashqai are trade-ins
