Sim Cards for mobiles for use in UK & Europe for a visitor.

Hi, we are USA residents with iPhones.  Please can anyone suggest the best sim card to use in UK and Europe.  We visit family in UK and travel to Europe, one or twice a year for a max of 2 weeks so don't we want to be tied into a contract.  Any counsel would be appreciated.  Many thanks.

Are your phones capable of taking a physical SIM, sorry for asking but I know relatively newer iPhones sold in the USA are eSIM only.

An eSIM might well be the solution for you anyway, there are many providers.

Do you want to make voice calls when travelling? Or do you want a data only plan and use services like whatsapp to make any phone calls?

We have both, old iPhone sim chip and new ones that take the eSim.   I would be using it mostly for navigation on maps or Waze so I assume that's running on data??.  Thanks.

You don't need any data to navigate if you use an app that allows maps to be downloaded such a Google Maps and Apple Maps.
