House selling/buying anxiety

    I feel like you should be clear that you want to move before accepting any offer on your house. Yes all sorts can go wrong anyway, but I personally would be pretty peeved if I got however far down the line and then my vendor decided they'd changed their mind and no longer wanted to sell.
    From what you've said above, it doesn't sound like you do really want to move. I would go down the renovations route as you know you like the area you're in. Imagine if you move, end up hating the area or having nightmare neighbours. Both options are realistically going to be stressful regardless.

    Absolutely, I'd be exactly the same. But this wouldn't be just a case of 'changing my mind'. There were 4 properties i was interested in before our house went on the market. As it did, they all sold. There are two more up now, but again, if these go there is nothing I like. The houses sell within days around here. So the fear I have is, that a house doesn't come up again that I like. Obviously I'm not going to move to a house I don't like just so I don't upset anyone. But that would give me huge anxiety and I would feel terrible. And this is the conundrum. But surely this is the position for anyone whose house goes on the market and maybe it's just the risk. I would much rather move than renovate. And I get your point about what if I hate my new neighbours, but equally my current neighbours could move and nightmare ones move in. Any decision to pull the house sale that far down the line would certainly not be deliberate and because I'd 'changed my mind' else why on earth go on the market. It would be because I couldn't find anywhere to go, which is completely different in my eyes, but would still give me huge anxiety in terms of letting people down.

    If the market is that hot around there you may find a lot of houses sell before going on the market.

    It's not the viewings that stress me out, it's the worry that my the house i want doesn't go through/sells/can't find anything else and therefore have to pull out of sale or keep a buyer hanging on for ages. But there seems no way round that as unless you have no chain there seems to be no way round it

    It's not the viewings that stress me out, it's the worry that my the house i want doesn't go through/sells/can't find anything else and therefore have to pull out of sale or keep a buyer hanging on for ages. But there seems no way round that as unless you have no chain there seems to be no way round it 
    Unless you are willing to move into rented and break the chain, I think people just accept the fact that poo happens. 
    I agree with the post above, and the next time I move it’ll be to a 6foot box.
