Mechanics of moving broadband supplier.

I am unhappy with my current broadband supplier (Talk Talk) and will change supplier in May when contract expires. I have jotted down some notes about the moving process:-
1. Inform provider that I will be leaving when contract expires on May date giving 31 days notice
1a. Send back equipment
2. Cancel D.D with bank | |||||||||
3. Arrange
service call from new supplier to set up new broadband by May date Is there anything else I should do? Can I bypass notifying old provider and get new provider to send back equipment etc? |

Wrong way round!
1.Order from new supplier, they then contact TT to arrange take over of service, you will receive a "sorry to hear you are leaving" email from TT almost immediately if the system works correctly. If you are porting a phone service make sure that is included in your order.
2.The new provider will arrange any changes to wiring etc and provide a new router.
3.New service goes live and TT is disconnected.
4.TT may request return of equipment depending on what you have, they didn't want anything back from me when I left 5 months ago.
5.TT will send you a final bill, the changeover date may not be the same as your billing date so you may have a few days to pay or have a refund as you always pay a month in advance.
6.Pay the final bill or request the refund, leave the DD in place until your TT account shows a zero balance and no future charges, this is normally two billing cycles.

Should not be any need to cancel DD for these service providers. Inc energy
it stops them automatically doing refunds.0 -
This has been my experience for the last seven days:-I signed up to have Sky provide Broadband, TV and phone. I had been with talktalk providing broadband and phone only. The date was set to May 14th, but Openreach, Sky’s sub contractor contacted me saying they could wire in the connection on April 23rd. This they did, through their own sub contractor M J Quinn, but no router/modem had been delivered so no connection to Sky Broadband.Unfortunately all other parts of the process proceeded, someone pressed the button to talktalk and I was disconnected from their service minutes after Openreach engineer had left.No problem I thought Sky will send a router out to me immediately . I contacted their help line, their first helper slammed the phone down after he told me the sequence of events couldn’t happen and I was asking him to please don’t over talk me when I was telling him they had happened. The second helper said she would get a router to me by that Wednesday afternoon or Thursday at the latest. The third helper ( Thursday ) said he couldn’t get the system to change and I would be stuck without broadband until 14th of May.I tried talktalk helpline to try and get reconnected, it was quick to disconnect, it must be easy to reconnect, no it wasn’t.I tried Sky help desk again, helper number 4 ( Saturday ) , no he couldn’t get the system to change but he would take on the problem personally and would text me Saturday evening with any progress. No text was forthcoming.I phoned again Sunday, helper number 5, she said that helper number 4 had not made any progress and there was no need for him to have texted, the system can’t be changed and I would have to wait for the engineer to connect the broadband on the 14th of May, I explained to her as I had explained to all the other helpers, I didn’t need an engineer, I just needed a router to complete the connection, she seemed to understand the problem, put me on hold came back to me and said sorry the system can’t be changed I would have to wait until the 14th.I tried one last time today, helper number 6, he said he would put me through to a problem solving department, great I thought, this is progress, a problem solving department helper number 7 will surely solve the problem, guess again , an engineer will arrive on the 14th to connect me to the internet.1

You could try buying a sky router off eBay (make sure it has a red port)
I’ve seen talktalk routers with red Ethernet ports. Try connecting that to the new Openreach box
what lights are on the new Openreach box? Are they green? Any red ?0
