I'm a big fan of the Pixel line of phones. Currently on the 9a.

I also have a Samsung tablet and find that you end up with two versions of every application - the Google one and the Samsung equivalent.

It's good to have a choice.....Not really seeing what the problem. It takes little effort and even less time to uninstall what you don't want and phone storage isn't the problem it once was anyway.

Last Samsung I bought was the M31s UK  spec that didn't even have their email app installed as standard so you
needed to register with Samsung to download it.

As soon as I downloaded the app from the Samsung store I made sure it was logged out. Sometimes the apps have no
uninstall option which is the point I think this is probably the last time I buy that brand.

I don't understand the 'Bloatware' issue. People just bandy the phrase around and then label anything they don't like as 'Bloatware'.
It's been a while since phones were slowed down with extra's which is where the phrase originally came from.

Bloatware is added unneeded programs (to bloat out) which in the past took up space when it was more at a premium and could also cause a slowdown.
Bloatware original meant that the provider/network/carrier had a software layer on top of the normal UI, that branded the phone  and added its own menus and even hid some of the phones features. This extra software layer slowed down the phone.

There were people who considered Google Services to be bloatware.

Later providers/networks/carriers started adding their own apps (such as a Vodafone specific messaging app) which rarely worked as well as the generic.

Then manufacturers and operators began doing deals to add specific third party apps to their phones, such as Samsung adding Microsoft apps and Motorola installing games on a monthly basis.

Creature of habit and when something works I have a vice like grip, easier to take candy from a baby than old tech from
    my old shrivelled hands.  :)

Windows 10 with updates disabled and Firefox about 10 versions old.   :)

Oh and Windows 10 looks like Windows 98SE.  :)
