Samsung or Google

I am torn. I require a new phone as my s8 is dying quickly.
I like the photo ability of google, add me, magic erase, best take. But it wont take a burst shot.
I like the burst shot (100 photos to get the splash of them jumping in water etc) of the samsung. Dislike al the bloatware etc.
Would prefer 256gb phone as take loads of photos. And this 64gb phone is always critically low on storage.
Any advice?

Google would be best to get the latest software as soon as it is released but Samsung is better build quality.  And Samsung do provide many years of software updates.  So no *real* reason to go Samsung.

I think i read, google better software, samsung better hardware.
Like I said like the 100 burst shot, for photo of the kids. But also best take would be great as I have a son who never looks at the camera

Google has Top Shot which is similar to burst shot. Essentially they both take a video which can be looked at frame by frame. Top Shot is not as long a video as burst shot though.

If you can wait for the Pixel 10 then there is going to be a change in the hardware, moving away from Samsung production.

Personally I would go with the Google Pixel over the Samsung. Hate the Samsung Bloatware and other limitations, but they do also have some good innovations of their own.

I wouldn't say there is better build quality with Samsung (been through multiple Samsung work phones when my Pixel 6 Pro just keeps going).

Software wise Samsung have fallen back in when they release the latest version to their handsets, but equal Google on how many years of updates you will get. So not much in that.

No right or wrong answer, sounds like you want re-assurance that Pixel isn't a bad choice. It isn't.

Go and try them both and see what feels best in your hands with a UX that you can live with.

I knew nothing about mobiles but by using the online guides was able to use ADB to remove or disable the bloatware from a Samsung S25, e.g. Bixby

I don't understand the 'Bloatware' issue. People just bandy the phrase around and then label anything they don't like as 'Bloatware'.
It's been a while since phones were slowed down with extra's which is where the phrase originally came from.

My last few phones have been Google and before that I owned a few Samsung phones and I've generally had a good experience with all of them. My only real issue has been with Google rolling out a software update at the start of this year that crippled the battery on my Pixel 4a. Granted I don't use that as my main phone anymore and they did offer a token amount of compensation, but it has tarnished my view of them a little bit. I personally like Google software a bit better, and the guaranteed security updates is very nice too. Otherwise personally I'd focus on the features you actually want and go from there.

I have had several new Samsung phones in the last few years, I was aware of Bixby but have never come across it nor have I had to disable or remove it.

I suspect the same is true of much of the software on Samsung (and other) phones that people have described as "bloatware".
