It's been a while since I held a Post Office savings account, but I think you needed the usual combination of username and password to log in, plus there was an additional pin code. Whether that was done in one step or two though, I can't remember.

Banks all have secure log-ins these days - what are you concerned about ?

I am looking for something easy for an elderly relative, ideally one-step logon.

I haven't used the Post Office for ages, as their systems were inept. Whether they've improved or not, I've no idea
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

What are they using to access online banking ? If they can use a smartphone, then many banks and building societies that use apps will allow you to log in with a single fingerprint, so no need to type in anything. They would need to keep the phone secure though and fully utilise the phone's own security settings to provide an extra layer of protection.

If they're accessing banking sites via a PC/laptop browser, then most online banking sites will require additional security information besides a username and password. This is often in the form of a security code (generated via a banking app or card reader) or a pin code which is sent via text message.
