dual fuel cooker installation - gaining an understanding before calling in the trades people

hi

am looking at switching from a gas cooker to dual fuel cooker. Before I order the cooker and book an electrician and gas safety engineer, I'd like to have an understanding of what to expect to assist with a smooth transition but also steer away from potholes and perhaps been stun.

Current setup......

gas cooker, electric connected to the mains by a plug socket.

plug socket behind cooker (no hardwire port)

gas pipe with flexible pipe behind the cooker.

isolation cooker switch and also a plug socket above the counter.

There appears to be 6mm wiring going from the garage into the kitchen, though I maybe wrong!

intended new setup......

dual fuel cooker, which needs to be hardwired.

What needs to happen......

I assume the electrician will need to install a hardwire port behind where the cooker will sit, what sort of problems could they encounter? can they install a hardwire port with a standard socket, to give options, would this means extra wiring?

any help and guidance is greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Are you sure the new cooker needs hardwiring? A standard fan oven at max 2.5KW can run safely through a normal 3 pin plug. Some are supplied like this, and some are supplied needing hardwiring ( especially if the power rating is higher).

Our old dual fuel cooker simply plugged in to a 13amp outlet.  You need to know the power requirements of the cooker in order to determine if that will be enough for the cooker you want.  The gas will probably be the same bayonet fitting you currently have.

extract from a well known high street seller......

    Installation

    Minimum distance required
    - 650 mm above hob
    - 150 mm to the sides
    - 150 mm behind

    Electrical installation
This product requires hardwiring to a 32 Amp fuse and should be installed by a qualified engineer,

    Electrical power rating
    5.5 kW
    Gas & dual fuel installation
should be installed by a qualified Gas Safe engineer

    Power supply
32 Amp (Requires hardwiring to a dedicated cooker circuit)

from this I assume it was u need to get in an electrician to upgrade my setup before I even purchase the cooker and book an electrician and gas safety engineer for installation.

What i would like to get in my head is what needs to be done to achieve a setup ready for installation.
    1 new consumer unit?
2 new wiring? I assume if so, that means perhaps hacking away wall/flooring/ceiling to install?
3 hardwiring port behind cooker, i assume as above?
    alternatively......
4 if there is already 6mm wiring to the isolation switch, would that make the job easier with less upheavily for the electrician in installing a hardwire unit behind the cooker?

    kind regards

Check the CU. Is the suspected 6mm cable connected to to a 32A MCB? How is it marked?
If it's really 6mm2, then, most likely, what is needed is only replacing the existing socket with a cooker plate (for hard-wiring).
Why do you need an extra standard socket? Cooker isolating switches often have one: httpsmediascrewfixcomisimageae23556392_A1fxSharpenwid257hei257dpron

Its a double oven and 5.5kW is far from unusual for a double

Reading the spec. it seams to suggest that it's 5.5kw and thats not that uncommon for larger overs. Typically this would be wire with a 32a 4mm or 6mm wire , Radial for the oven only.

Something worth considering as you already have a gas supply - electricity is about 4 times as much as gas, so running costs will increase.
