Spent £41 in a couple of shops yesterday..... which was about £20 more than I'd planned. I did stock up on things that had run out, spices, flour etc plus got milk, a few reduced things and somehow a Lindt bunny (half price) found its way into my basket..... not frugal but it will be a treat for a week so.....
Today I'm off to community food so I'll add the £10 as well. Only about £25 left till new start... not sure I'll make it but hopefully not too much over. Got to confess I'm disappointed I didnt come under, I must look closely at what I'm spending on (gazes at Lindt bunny...). But the prices in the shops!!!
£180/£25.33 left

spends of £17.19 on groceries- gluten free bread, banana & reduced to clear dairy free Easter chocolates at my local express shop - trying to avoid the supermarket till the weekend.
£34.75 on pets- technically the spend was higher but it was a bulk buy of the cats new diet wet food which should last around 3 months and far cheaper buying it bulk so splitting it per month. I’ll put the amount back each month which will go towards the next bulk buy.
this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk10 -
Hi everyone
I have overspent on my food budget I’ve spent £173.81 instead of £120.
I think that in May, I will see what I spend as maybe I’ve not taken price rises into account.

Why have I only just discovered how yummy left over roast potatoes are when they are mashed with milk and marg and cooked on top of a shepherd's/ cottage pie . We had so many left after the Easter roast ( I always overdo things when we have guests) and this was a perfect answer. Wonder what it would be like with left over chips. As long as there was no salt and vinegar on them of course. DH did another necessary shop at Aldi today. We are in the process of hunting down the receipt.🤣craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £25.96 spent, 128 made and 5 mended,

I'm sure chips would work on top of a cottage pie - they work on the top of a fish pie!!!

Hello everyone, M*rks are still having difficulty with their electronic tills and could only accept chip and pin and cash this afternoon, no contactless and only low denomination notes as well. I'm wondering if they've updated something without testing it thoroughly.
Anyway, I spent £11.15 on milk, cucumber, salad bits and a jar of gherkins which makes my new total £121.71/£150.
I also baked from stores this week which was good and I used this recipe with some tweaks to make it vegan and coeliac and substituted walnuts for pecans, the end results were delicious and vanished very quickly.
I used Orgran egg substitute today for the first time and think the resulting texture and flavour was much better than I expected so I'll be using that again over the next few weeks and will report back after that.10 -
Tesco's have done exactly the same @goldfinches. The staff have had absolutely no training on the new system. I wanted to have my points added on for some petrol that DH had bought but for some reason the pay at pump didn't add on the points even though he'd pressed the button for the points. As we're going away for a couple of weeks I've got to hang on to the till receipt and then try again when I get back. Just hope they've sorted everything out by then. I want (and need) my points as planning on booking a Eurotunnel tickets with them once I get the next lot of points at the end of May.9

Hi All, I'm calling in April's budget figures.
28th March - Tesco Delivery - £145,03
2nd April - Lidl - £35.03
8th April - Lidl - £45.56
11th April - Tesco Delivery - £122.40
17th April - Lidl - 92.04
24th April - Lidl - £29.13
Total - £469.19 - budget £300
It's difficult to know where to draw the line, if I were to take out the 28th March shop I'd be within a deceit target. I've got a Tesco delivery shop booked for 2nd May so next month's figures could look better on the face of it.

@goldfinches M&S suffered from a major cyberattack over the weekend, which affected all their systems. (I’d bought something from their website and received an emailed apology from their CEO!)
I have a small spend to declare: £5.60 spent today in Sainsbugs on fresh veggies. (410g broccoli 90p, 992g carrots 68p, 1 mushroom 10p, 1.146kg sweet potatoes £1.36, 1.214kg potatoes 96p, peppers £1.60)The above brings our total spend to £165.60/£172 leaving £6.40 for the rest of the month.
@LiveSimply, I think Elsiepac is struggling to cope with running the thread on top of her regular work. It takes a lot of effort to keep on top of the Grocery Challenge and life gets in the way. If she needs an assistant, would you be able to help?

ETA: also, there are a lot of people listed at the start of the thread who are not participating at the moment, hence the lack of budgets. Mine is there and up-to-date."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'
